Ravens Deliver Golden Goal, Fight Past Comets in Overtime

Anderson University men's soccer freshman Antony Rodriguez (Lawrence, Ind./Lawrence North) delivered a golden goal as Anderson fought past Olivet College with a 3-2 victory in the Raven/Spartan Classic on Saturday at the AU Soccer Fields.
 
Joshua Rosendale put Olivet on the board in the 10th minute. It took just 14 seconds for Anderson to respond with an equalizer. Nick Martin (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) and Sam Rowlison (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) fed the ball upfield to Derek Thorpe (Cicero, Ind./Hamilton Heights) for a goal. Martin and Rowlison received assists.
 
Rosendale gave the Comets a 2-1 lead in the 14th minute with his second goal of the day. Olivet held a steady lead until the 84th minute when Race Williams (Fishers, Ind./Heritage Christian) capitalized off passes from Sean Cain (Monroe, Ohio/Monroe) and R.J. Macomber (Marion, Ind./Marion) for the game-tying goal.
 
Thorpe fired a shot on goal during the 98th minute and Rodriguez finished the rebound for the game-winning goal with Thorpe on the assist.
 
Caleb Oliver (Marion, Ind./Marion) saved two of the four shots he faced. Cain also recorded a team save for the Ravens.
 
Thorpe provided four shots with each shot on target. Macomber tallied four shots with two shots on goal. Williams, Martin, Rodriguez and Daniel Collins (Jamestown, Ind./Western Boone) added a shot on goal apiece.
 
Williams and Collins notched three shots each. Rodriguez and Malik Gayler (New Market, Ind./Southmont) turned in two shots apiece. Noah Keller (Mount Vernon, Ind./Mount Vernon), Martin, Rowlison, Drew Sonnefeldt (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) and Regan Frost (Yorktown, Ind./Yorktown) each produced shots. Rowlison led the Ravens with three steals.
