Volleyball Sweeps Kalamazoo
The Anderson University volleyball team (6-4) swept Kalamazoo College (7-8) by a score of 25-19, 25-22, 27-25 on Tuesday in Kalamazoo, Mich.
"[Tuesday's] match was a great team effort," Coach Tami Miller said. "I love the intensity and fight that we played with to get the job done in three sets."
Anderson powered to a .203 hitting percentage while Kalamazoo finished with a .123 hitting percentage. Lacy Rathbun racked up 13 kills, 18 digs, 11 receptions, two service aces and a .357 hitting percentage. Taylor Bock produced 10 kills, one service ace and a .444 hitting percentage. Jayda Lanham scattered 31 receptions, 18 digs and added one service ace. Ellie Wilson contributed nine kills and four blocks. Bre Lawrence contributed 13 digs, one service ace and a .450 hitting percentage. Blythe Young dished out 37 assists and recorded two blocks. Peyton Bundy collected seven receptions and Amy Nye provided a service ace.

Trine Edges Men's Tennis
Trine University (6-0) edge the Anderson University men's tennis team (1-2) by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday at Anderson High School. Ian Potts and Santiago Terbonati secured a win at No. 3 doubles. Pedro Sette earned a victory at No. 3 singles, Potts took a win at No. 4 singles and Luis Guerrero claimed a victory at No. 5 singles. Anderson battles in the four-day Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA D-III Central Regional, which begins on Friday at Kalamazoo, Mich.

Hope Hands Men's Soccer Loss
Hope College (4-4-1) handed the Anderson University men's soccer team (5-3-2) a 3-1 loss on Tuesday in Holland, Mich. Hope outshot Anderson 20-7 and held a 13-3 advantage in shots on goal. Emmett Kindler headed in a goal assisted by Miles Tucker. Braydon Kennedy saved 7-of-8 (87.5 percent) shots while Karter Denson saved 3-of-5 (60 percent) shots. Luke Weinman V led the Ravens with five intercepts while Jack Harris led the Ravens with three steals. Marek Bollinger was named The Raven's Raven.
"I thought we showed moments of brilliance [on Tuesday]," Coach Scott Fridley said. "Even with a slow start we did a lot of good things. If you play a team as good as Hope, you have to play mistake-free soccer. When we scored our goal, I thought we had them. We carried the play for a while but couldn't get the equalizer. They are very well coached and have so many quality players. Of course I'm not happy with the score, but I'm happy the boys played hard and brought a good fight for 90 minutes."
Anderson opens Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) season by battling Mount St. Joseph University (0-6-1, 0-0) on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Cincinnati.

Women's Tennis Falls to Trine
The Anderson University women's tennis team (0-2) fell to Trine University (6-0) by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday at Anderson High School. Ella Frantz and Paula Torrent picked up the win at No. 1 doubles. Gabby Hosier turned in a win at No. 3 singles. Anderson faces off with Taylor University (3-1) on Friday, Oct. 3 at 4:30 p.m. in Upland.
