Anderson University women's basketball graduate Lauren Smith '26 has signed with the Indianapolis Wolves for the summer 2026 season.
The Wolves are a semi-professional team that competes in the New Vision Women's Basketball Circuit (NWBC). Their home venue is Denny Barrett Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
"I'm incredibly honored and humbled for the opportunity to continue playing the game I love at this next level," Smith said. "I'm grateful to join the Indianapolis Wolves, build relationships with my teammates and coaches, make an impact and compete at a high level again. AU played a huge role in preparing me for this next step. Being at a place where you can openly share and live out your faith through athletics challenged me to grow not only as a player, but as a leader. It gave me a foundation of faith, humility and resilience that I'll carry with me throughout my career."
Smith scored 666 points for an average of 7.2 points per game in 93 games played and 33 games started during her career at Anderson. The Muncie native and Cowan High School graduate was named to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) All-Newcomer Team during her freshman season. She drained 38-of-95 (40 percent) shots from 3-point range as a freshman to rank eighth in Anderson's single-season record book.
As a senior, Smith played in 25 games, started in 18 games and averaged 8.1 points per game. Smith knocked down 131-of-380 (34.5 percent) attempts from the perimeter in her career. Among Anderson career leaders, Smith ranks fourth in 3-pointers made, sixth in 3-pointers attempted and seventh in 3-point field-goal percentage.
"I'm especially thankful for my family, along with my coaches, teammates, mentors and everyone at AU who invested in me and supported me along the way. I truly wouldn't be where I am without them. I hope to represent both the Indianapolis Wolves and Anderson University well as I begin this next chapter. Above all, I'm just thankful for the opportunity and I honestly can't wait to hoop again. GBGR."
