Men's Basketball Battles Past Bluffton
The Anderson University men's basketball (6-7, 4-2) battled past Bluffton University (3-10, 1-5) by a score of 83-74 during Wednesday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium. Bluffton's Andre Irvin led both teams in scoring with 22 points after converting 9-of-13 (69.2 percent) shots from the field and 4-of-6 (66.7 percent) attempts from 3-point range. Anderson hit 12-of-37 (32.4 percent) shots from the perimeter while Bluffton made 6-of-21 (28.6 percent) attempts from behind the arc. The Beavers outscored the Ravens 16-6 on second-chance points. Anderson hit 13-of-23 (56.5 percent) shots from the free-throw line while Bluffton made 6-of-11 (54.5 percent) attempts from the charity stripe. The Beavers drained 31-of-68 (45.6 percent) shots from the field while the Ravens knocked down 29-of-65 (44.6 percent) attempts from the floor.
Nolan Swan led the Ravens with 18 points, while hitting each of his seven free-throw attempts. Kenney Troutman scored 14 points. Axel Laby provided 13 points and four steals while Rob Davidson contributed 13 points and four assists. Elijah Mattingly pulled down 11 rebounds and recorded three blocks. Bryce Williams dished out eight assists.
"I didn't think we had our best stuff [on Wednesday], at all, but it says a lot about our group that we were able to gut out a win," Coach Carter Collins said. "Every team is going to have games throughout the season where things just aren't clicking on all cylinders like you would like, but you need to find a way to win anyway."
Anderson faces off with Mount St. Joseph University (6-7, 4-2) in HCAC action on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Cincinnati. The two teams are both part of a three-way tie for third place in the HCAC standings.

Women's Basketball Suffers Road HCAC Loss to Bluffton
The Anderson University women's basketball team (6-7, 2-4) suffered a 73-64 road Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) loss to Bluffton University (6-7, 2-4) on Wednesday in Bluffton, Ohio. Bluffton outrebounded Anderson by a 50-32 margin. The Beavers held a 16-8 advantage on the offensive boards and outscored the Ravens 21-6 on second-chance points. Bluffton converted 28-of-66 (42.4 percent) shots from the field while Anderson hit 21-of-59 (35.6 percent) attempts from the floor. Paige Williamson scored 17 points. Bella Larrison notched 16 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Sydney Sierota tallied 13 points and seven assists. Victoria Detraz recorded four blocks. Anderson challenges Mount St. Joseph University (7-6, 4-2) in HCAC action on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Cincinnati.
