Men’s Basketball Charges Past Pioneers
The Anderson University men’s basketball team charged past Transylvania University 71-57 during Saturday’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.

Anderson (5-7, 3-2) built up a 48-31 lead with 16 minutes, 2 seconds remaining. During the next 6:45, Transylvania (6-6, 3-2) put together a 16-0 run to cut the lead to 48-47. As Anderson led 55-54 with 4:22 remaining, the Ravens sparked a 10-0 run during the next 2:34 to put the game away.
"I've been pleased with the squad since we returned from Christmas break about a week ago," Coach Carter Collins said. "The guys have done a good job of raising their standards, and we've started to conduct ourselves in a manner more consistent with what we hope to achieve this season. Our energy dipped midway through the second half, but I thought we showed good mental toughness to reestablish it and finish the game out."
Anderson converted 9-of-31 (29.0 percent) shots from 3-point range and held Transylvania to 3-of-26 (11.5 percent) shooting from the perimeter. The Ravens outscored the Pioneers 17-10 on fast-break points.
Elijah Mattingly filled the stat sheet with 14 points, 14 rebounds, five steals, three blocks and three assists. Kenney Troutman produced 18 points, four steals, three assists and four rebounds. The senior from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis knocked down 3-of-6 (50 percent) shots from behind the arc. Rob Davidson turned in 13 points and three steals. Axel Laby notched 10 points, three blocks and four rebounds. Bryce Williams contributed seven assists and four points. Cedric Anderson scored three points and Will Jamison rounded out the Raven scoring effort with two points.
The Ravens battle Bluffton University (3-9, 1-4) in HCAC action on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
