The Anderson University men's basketball team downed Hanover College by a score of 80-71 during Wednesday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
Anderson (14-9, 12-4) and Transylvania University (15-8, 12-4) are currently tied for first in the HCAC standings. The Ravens overcame injuries and avenged its 83-69 loss to Hanover (13-10, 9-7) at Hanover earlier this season.
"What a big win for our program," Coach Carter Collins said. "We were short-handed, to say the least, but the remaining healthy guys stepped up big time. We still have two big regular-season wins to get though, so no time to celebrate!"
Mattingly recorded a dominant performance by finishing the game with 28 points, 20 rebounds, two steals and one block. He accounts for both of the 20-plus rebound games on record in HCAC history. Mattingly pulled down 21 rebounds on Dec. 18, 2023 against Trine University.
Bryce Williams provided 19 points and four assists. The junior from Fishers drained 5-of-7 (71.4 percent) shots from 3-point range. Nolan Swan contributed 10 points and three steals while Will Jamison added 10 points and two steals. DeMonte Ferguson tallied nine points and Cedric Anderson rounded out the Raven scoring effort with four points.
Anderson hosts Berea College (9-14, 5-11) on Senior Day in HCAC action on Saturday at 3 p.m. in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
