Women’s Basketball Rallies Past Hanover, Williamson Enters Record Book
The Anderson University women’s basketball team rallied past Hanover College 76-73 during Wednesday’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in Hanover.

Paige Williamson poured in 27 points to lead the Ravens (14-9, 10-6). The sophomore from Rockford, Ohio drained 8-of-13 (61.5 percent) shots from 3-point range. Williamson's eight 3-pointers in a game ties for fourth in school history.
Hanover (13-10, 7-9) built a 48-40 lead with 5 minutes, 20 seconds left in the third quarter. Anderson chipped away with a 20-8 run during the next 5:34 taking a 60-56 lead with 9:46 left in the game. The run consisted of nine points from Williamson.
The Panthers then responded with an 11-0 run during the next 4:14 to take a 67-60 lead with 5:32 left in the game. Anderson then completed a trade with an 11-0 run of its own. Izzy Davis made a layup to tie the game with 2:49 remaining. Williamson then hit two free throws to take the lead. Sydney Sierota made a key layup with 51 seconds remaining to put Anderson ahead by four.
Alexis Wines made two free throws to cut the deficit to 71-69. The Panthers were unable to come up with a needed stop as Davis made a layup to take a 73-69 lead. Anderson remained just out of reach as the two teams traded baskets and free throws until the game concluded at 76-73.
Anderson sank 15-of-24 (62.5 percent) shots from the free-throw line while Hanover made 6-of-8 (75 percent) attempts from the charity stripe. The Ravens knocked down 11-of-27 (40.7 percent) shots from 3-point range while the Panthers hit 9-of-26 (34.6 percent) attempts from the perimeter. Hanover converted 29-of-79 (36.7 percent) shots from the field while Anderson made 25-of-62 (40.3 percent) shots from the field.
Both teams collected 46 rebounds apiece. Anderson committed 10 turnovers while Hanover turned the ball over seven times. The Panthers outscored the Ravens 9-6 off turnovers. Hanover held a 2-1 advantage in fast-break points.
Sierota notched 17 points, five assists and one block. Davis provided 15 points and five assists. Victoria Detraz contributed seven points, 15 rebounds and two blocks. Bella Larrison produced four points and 11 rebounds. Lauren Smith dished out three assists and Ashley Pate tallied six points.
Anderson hosts Berea College (12-11, 9-7) on Senior Day in HCAC action on Saturday at 1 p.m. in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
