Women’s Basketball Knocks Off Franklin, Davis Breaks 1,000 Career Points
The Anderson University women’s basketball team knocked off conference-leading Franklin College 101-86 during Wednesday’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.

Franklin (13-4, 8-2) entered halftime with a 46-43 lead. During the first half, Paige Williamson contributed 15 points, shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from 3-point range and 5-for-5 from the field. Trailing 49-45 with 9 minutes, 18 seconds left in the third quarter, the Ravens (10-7, 6-4) rattled off a 13-0 run during the next 3:54, putting Anderson ahead 58-49 with 5:24 left in the third quarter.
Izzy Davis hit a free throw to put the Ravens at 100 points, but the free throw also marked Davis's 1,000th career point. The senior guard from Indianapolis became the Raven in program history to eclipse 1,000 points. Davis finished the game with 24 points.
"Izzy has been instant offense ever since she stepped foot on campus for us," Coach Jon Gin said. "It was a really cool moment to see her get her 1,000th point in front of the home crowd."
After opening the season with a 3-6 record, Anderson has put together a 7-1 record since returning from Christmas break.
"I think [Wednesday] really showed our team what we are capable of. We got off to a really rough start to our season. I feel like post-Christmas break, we finally caught up to everyone else and found our footing."
Anderson converted 36-of-68 (52.9 percent) shots from the field while Franklin knocked down 32-of-72 (44.4 percent) attempts from the floor. The Ravens drained 12-of-23 (52.2 percent) attempts from 3-point range while the Grizzlies made 9-of-17 (52.9 percent) shots from behind the arc. Anderson outrebounded Franklin 45-32. Despite finishing minus-2 on turnovers, the Ravens outscored the Grizzlies 23-12 off turnovers.
Davis notched 24 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Bella Larrison contributed 21 points and three assists. Victoria Detraz recorded 13 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks. Sydney Sierota posted eight points, nine rebounds and six assists. Williamson tallied 17 points, while going a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and 5-for-5 from the perimeter. Ashley Pate provided eight points and two steals. Lauren Smith added seven points and Kylie Hendrickson rounded out Anderson's scoring with three points.
"We are so talented and we've been trying to find the right mix on offense to showcase everyone's talent and I think we did that [on Wednesday]. We shared the ball really well, moved well and set up our teammates for success."
Franklin and Transylvania University (13-4, 8-2) are currently tied for first in the HCAC standings. Anderson challenges Transylvania in HCAC action on Friday at 5 p.m. in Lexington, Ky.
