Men's Basketball Breaks Multiple School Records in Victory against Berea
The Anderson University men's basketball team broke multiple school records as the Ravens blew out Berea College 96-60 during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in Berea, Ky.
Anderson (4-4, 2-0) drained 24 3-pointers, taking down the school record of 21 set against Bluffton University last season. The Ravens attempted 59 3-pointers, shattering the record of 42 set against Bluffton last year. Kenney Troutman knocked down a school record 10 3-pointers. Prior to Saturday, four Ravens had hit nine 3-pointers in a game with the most recent performance coming from Nathaniel Acree on Nov. 21, 2015.
"I'm very pleased with our effort and execution [on Saturday]," Coach Carter Collins said. It's tough to complain when you set multiple school records!!! It's a great job by the guys at showing up ready to perform after our longest conference road trip of the season."
Anderson converted 33-of-73 (45.2 percent) shots from the field while Berea (4-4, 1-1) hit 23-of-73 (31.5 percent) attempts from the floor. The Ravens knocked down 24-of-59 (40.7 percent) shots from 3-point range while the Mountaineers made 6-of-32 (18.8 percent) shots attempts from the perimeter. Anderson rolled to a 56-39 rebounding advantage.
Troutman poured in 34 points to lead the Ravens while also adding three assists and three steals. The Ben Davis graduate sank 12-of-16 (75 percent) shots from the field and 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) shots from behind the arc. Nolan Swan produced 26 points and three assists. The sophomore from Tipton drained 9-of-13 (69.2 percent) shots from the floor and 8-of-12 (66.7 percent) attempts from the perimeter. Swan's eight 3-pointers made ties for sixth among Anderson single-game school-record holders.
Elijah Mattingly contributed 13 rebounds and eight assists. Rob Davidson turned in six rebounds, three assists, two steals and two points. Clay Bowman, Jacob Scruggs and Cole Duncan provided five points apiece. Worthy Ebiringa, Connor Todhunter-Dawson, DeMonte Ferguson, Will Jamison and Brevon Burns each scored three points. Axel Laby and Josiah Marshall added two points apiece to round out Anderson's scoring. Jamison dished out four assists while Laby and Duncan each recorded a block.
Anderson clashes with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (4-2, 2-0) in HCAC action on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.

Men's Swimming & Diving Cruises Past Olivet
The Anderson University men's swimming and diving team (4-3, 2-3) split Saturday's double dual in Franklin. Anderson cruised past The University of Olivet (0-6) by a score of 126-38 in non-conference action. The Ravens fell to Franklin College (6-2, 4-0) in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action 211-48. Noah Singleton captured first place in both the 50-yard butterfly (24.44) and the 500 freestyle (5:02.47). Reid Haney took third (2:08.43) in the 200 individual medley and Thinh Tran secured third (38.70) in the 50 backstroke. Anderson's 200 Freestyle Relay 'A' Team consisting of Camden Perrine, Ethan Scialabba, Haney and Singleton locked up second with a time of 1 minute, 32.43 seconds. The Ravens put together a 200 Medley Relay 'A' Team consisting of Scialabba, Singleton, Perrine and Haney, which claimed third with a time of 1:46.21. Anderson hosts Wilmington College (2-2) and Heidelberg University (0-7) in a double dual on Senior Night on Friday, Jan. 16 at 5 p.m. in Bennett Natatorium.

Women's Swimming & Diving Coasts Past Olivet
The Anderson University women's swimming and diving team (4-3, 3-2) split Saturday's double dual in Franklin. Anderson coasted past The University of Olivet (0-6) by a score of 171-49 in non-conference action. The Ravens fell to Franklin College (6-2, 4-0) in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action 238-49. Talia Leer claimed first place in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 33.42 seconds. The sophomore from Arcadia also took third (26.77) in the 50 freestyle. Morgan Ferguson secured second (57.13) in the 100 freestyle and third (29.10) in the 50 butterfly. Bea Johnson locked up second (1:14.09) in the 100 butterfly and Emilee Knueven earned third (12:57.08) in the 1,000 freestyle. Lindsey Pickering finished third in the 6-dive 1-meter diving event with a score of 150.05 points and an average of 25.01 pointd per dive. Anderson hosts Heidelberg University (1-6) and Wilmington College (0-4) in a double dual on Senior Night on Friday, Jan. 16 at 5 p.m. in Bennett Natatorium.

Women's Basketball Drops Double-Overtime Heartbreaker to Berea
The Anderson University women's basketball team (2-5, 0-2) dropped a 91-88 double-overtime heartbreaker to Berea College (3-4, 1-1) during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in Berea, Ky. Berea outrebounded Anderson 57-50. Sydney Sierota notched 27 points, six rebounds, five steals and four assists. The senior from Sellersburg knocked down 4-of-6 (66.7 percent) shots from 3-point range. Lauren Smith contributed 16 points and eight rebounds. Victoria Detraz collected 14 rebounds while Bella Larrison pulled down eight rebounds. Paige Williamson turned in 12 points and Izzy Davis dished out six assists.

Men's Track & Field Places Sixth, Women's Track & Field Finishes Seventh in MSJ Fall Preview
During Saturday's MSJ Fall Preview in Cincinnati, the Anderson University men's track and field placed sixth while the Anderson University women's track and field team finished seventh. On the men's side, Hunter Isaacs and Garrett Isaacs took second and third in the pole vault, respectively, with matching heights of 3.65 meters (11 feet, 11.75 inches). Jaylan Seeko earned fifth in the pole vault with a height of 3.05 meters (10 feet, 0 inches). The junior from Anderson captured seventh overall in the 400-meter dash and sixth in the college division with a time of 56.80 seconds. Seeko's 400 time currently leads the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC). Anderson fielded a 4x200 relay of Seeko, Elijah Stires, Joaquin Bautista and Dillon Pratt, which secured third with a time of 1:37.51. Qi'Yam Simmons locked up sixth overall in the shot put and fourth in the college division with a distance of 14.21 meters (46 feet, 7.5 inches). Welles Gupton posted personal records (PR's) in both the shot put (10.00 meters; 32 feet, 9.75 inches) and the weight throw (12.03 meters; 39 feet, 5.75 inches). Myles Davis raced to a PR time of 7.51 seconds in the 60-meter dash. On the women's side, Katie Ripberger claimed fifth (10.93) in the 60 hurdles prelims and fourth (10.30) in the 60 hurdles finals. Ellasyn Bruner posted a PR distance of 9.42 meters (30 feet, 11 inches) in the weight throw as well as a distance of 6.28 meters (20 feet, 7.25 inches) in the shot put. Davis was named the Anderson XCTF Male Performer of the Meet while Bruner was selected as the Anderson XCTF Female Performer of the Meet.
"First meets are always a bit ugly and we had many performances with a personal record or close to it," Coach Nic Huffman said. "I think it added a lot of excitement and motivation heading into the winter break and the main season starting. We have a long ways to go, so that kind of start shows there are some good things ahead."
Anderson's track and field teams return to action in the Friday Night Spikes Larry Cole Opener hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Friday, Jan. 16 at 5 p.m. in Terre Haute.
