Women’s Basketball Head Coach Lindsay Shade Will Not Return for 2021-22 Season

The Anderson University athletics department has announced that women's basketball head coach Lindsay Shade will not return for the 2021-22 Season as she pursues other professional opportunities.

"I'm grateful for the leadership Coach Shade has provided to the women's basketball program these past six years," Director of Athletics Marcie Taylor said. "Through her tireless work as a recruiter of quality student-athletes, Coach Shade has taken a program that was near the bottom of the conference when she arrived on campus to consistently competing at a high level, especially the past two seasons.  Student-athletes in the program are high-character women who contribute positively to our campus community and form a solid foundation for the next head coach to build upon."

"When I was interviewing at AU six years ago, I asked everyone I came in contact with 'what makes AU special?'" Lindsay Shade said. "I consistently heard the word 'community;' they were not wrong. The people of Anderson University make it special and I am incredibly grateful for the relationships I have developed over the last six years. I have been given an opportunity in the private sector that I can't turn down personally or professionally. After hovering in the Midwest through three coaching jobs, I am looking forward to moving to Greenville, S.C., where I will be closer to family."

During the 2019-20 season, the Ravens earned the No. 4 seed in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament. Anderson secured its first berth to the HCAC Tournament since the 2009-10 season and its best seed since the 2008-09 season. This year, the Ravens went 7-7 and advanced to the HCAC semifinals for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

"I cannot possibly thank all the people who supported me in my role as head coach, but I do want to acknowledge a few key people," Shade continued. "Thank you to President Pistole and Marcie Taylor for my first head coaching opportunity. Thank you to all the faculty and staff who have been supportive of our program over the last several years.  Most importantly, I want to say thank you to the players. They are an incredible group of women who are talented on the court and even more impressive off the court. I believe the program is in a really strong position. There is a talented returning group of players and a strong incoming recruiting class. This group is capable of achieving big things."
