Barreca Ties Stolen Base Record, Baseball Routs Trine

Barreca became the second Raven in the 84-year history of Anderson baseball to steal five bases in a game, tying the school record set by Dave Coolidge against Defiance College on April 20, 1974.
During the bottom of the first inning, Barreca and Trey Dorton each scored for the Ravens (8-7-1) on passed balls. Jon Dorsch then singled in a run to put the Ravens up by three.
Luke Burford cracked a two-run single for Trine (4-12) in the top of the third to cut Anderson's lead to 3-2. Zayden Stiller provided an RBI single for Anderson in the bottom half of the inning.
During the fourth, Griffin Wolf knocked in Barreca on a sacrifice fly. Dylan Hogan then doubled in a run to put Anderson ahead 6-2.
The Ravens plated five runs in the fifth. Barreca singled in a run and Dorton contributed an RBI double. Wolf added an RBI single and Hogan ripped a two-run double.
In the sixth, Landon Gum drove in Ian Potts on a sacrifice fly to put Anderson ahead 12-2.
Barreca went 3-for-4 with a double and five stolen bases. Kellan Bailey finished 3-for-4 with a double. Hogan tallied two doubles, three RBI and a stolen base while going 3-for-5 at the plate. Wolf drove in two runs and recorded a single. Dorton went 1-for-1 with three walks and two stolen bases. Dorsch contributed a single and a stolen base. Gum provided a double and Stiller rounded out Anderson's 14 hits with an RBI single. The Ravens outhit the Thunder 14-4.
As a pitching staff, Anderson struck out seven batters, issued three walks and allowed two runs on four hits in seven innings. Rhet Heckman (2-0) picked up the win. Heckman, Braden Richey, Kyan Miller and Eli Ketterer all retired each of the three batters they faced. Evan Rinehart and Lance Coy also threw scoreless innings. Coy struck out three batters, Rex Richter fanned two batters and Miller and Rinehart each added a strikeout.
Burford went 2-for-4 with a two-run single for the Thunder. Kyle Martin and Cole Schmidthuber both turned in singles.
Brody Bond (0-1) took the loss. He struck out four batters, yielded two walks and gave up three runs (one earned) on three hits in two innings. Owen Mitchell fanned three batters, issued one walk and surrendered eight runs (four earned) on 11 hits in two and two-thirds innings. Riley Dorsey walked two batters and conceded an unearned run in a third of an inning. Gunner Willey punched out two batters, yielded zero walks and allowed zero runs on zero hits in one inning.
Anderson kicks off the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) slate by clashing rival and defending HCAC Tournament Champion Manchester University (6-7, 0-0) on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Don Brandon Field.
