Baseball Charges Past Knights
The Anderson University baseball team poured seven runs in the seventh inning to seal a 12-2 mercy-rule victory against Mount St. Mary College (N.Y.) on Sunday at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Fla.

Griffin Wolf contributed an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning to put the Ravens (6-5-1) on the board. In the third, Trey Dorton produced a run-scoring triple. Later in the inning, Dylan Hogan drove in Dorton on a sacrifice fly. During the fifth, Landon Gum delivered a two-run home run to put Anderson ahead 5-0.
Kaleb Morgan broke Anderson's shutout in the top of the seventh inning by connecting on a two-run homer to cut the deficit for the Knights (2-2) to 5-2.
Anderson plated seven runs in the seventh. Zayden Stiller belted a two-run single and Russell Weaver singled in a run. Daniel Barreca then smashed a three-run double. Dorton then doubled in Barreca to put the Ravens up 12-2 and clinch the win by a 10-run mercy rule.
Rex Richter (1-0) captured the win for the Ravens. He struck out seven batters, issued zero walks and allowed two runs on three hits in seven innings.
Peter Pappalardo (0-1) suffered the loss. He fanned one batter, yielded zero walks and gave up five runs on six hits in six innings. During Anderson's seven-run seventh, Gavin Oberg surrendered five runs and Gregory Malerba conceded two runs.
The Ravens outhit the Knights 12-3. Dorton went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, two RBI and two stolen bases. Barreca contributed a three-run double, going 2-for-4 with a stolen base. Gum produced a two-run blast. Stiller provided a two-run single and Wolf turned in an RBI double and a stolen base. Hogan tallied a single and Weaver added a single and a stolen base to round out Anderson's 12 hits.
Morgan delivered a two-run homer for the Knights. Noah Anderson and Aidan Marshall recorded singles to round out Mount St. Mary's three hits.
Anderson battles Benedictine University (2-4) on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at Northeast Regional Park Field No. 2.
