Baseball swept Franklin College with a pair of 4-2 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) victories as Trey Dorton tallied his 200th career hit on Saturday at Don Brandon Field. Men’s Tennis and Women’s Tennis each cruised past Manchester University 7-0 in HCAC action in North Manchester. During the Indiana D-III Championships in Greencastle, Men’s Track & Field took fifth and Women’s Track & Field placed eighth. Softball fell to Franklin by scores of 13-3 in six innings and 5-4 in HCAC action at the Raven Softball Field.

Baseball Sweeps Franklin, Dorton Tallies 200th Career Hit
The Anderson University baseball team swept Franklin College during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) doubleheader at Don Brandon Field.
Anderson (17-11-1, 8-4) topped Franklin (14-13, 4-8) by a score of 4-2 in both games.
Senior Trey Dorton tallied the 200th hit of his career.
GAME 1: ANDERSON 4, FRANKLIN 2
During the top of the first inning, Davis Wagner drove in Garrett DeHart on a groundout to put Franklin on the board.
In the bottom of the first, Jon Dorsch knocked in a run with an RBI single for the Ravens. Zayden Stiller belted a two-run single to put the Ravens ahead 3-1.
After tripling earlier in the inning, Stiller scored on a wild pitch to add another run.
Dyllan Redmon contributed an RBI single for the Grizzlies in the sixth.
Rhet Heckman (5-1) secured the win for the Ravens. He struck out two batters, issued two walks and allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits in eight and one-third innings. Carter Knoblauch picked up his second save of the season. He punched out one batter and yielded one walk in two thirds of an inning.
Chase Wagner (3-1) suffered the loss for the Grizzlies. He fanned nine batters, issued three walks and conceded four runs (one earned) on three hits in eight innings.
Franklin outhit Anderson 5-3. Stiller went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI. Dorsch added an RBI single to round out Anderson's three hits.
Kam Seitz finished 2-for-4. Drew Helton produced a double. Redmon and Wagner turned in singles to round out Franklin's five hits.
GAME 2: ANDERSON 4, FRANKLIN 2
In the bottom of the first, Griffin Wolf cracked a run-scoring single. Dylan Hogan drove in Dorton on a groundout. Landon Gum singled and Wolf scored on an error on the same play to put Anderson ahead 3-0.
Nic Deering trimmed Franklin's deficit to two in the second with an RBI single.
In the sixth, Hogan smashed a solo home run to put Anderson ahead 4-1.
Drew Helton drew a bases-loaded walk for the Grizzlies in the seventh.
Braden Richey (4-3) claimed the win. He punched out four batters, yielded three walks and gave up two runs on five hits in six and two-thirds innings. Kyan Miller recorded his first save of the season. He struck out three batters, issued one walk and conceded zero runs on zero hits in two and one-third innings.
Caden Wilburn (1-4) was tagged with the loss. He fanned four batters, issued two walks and surrendered four runs (three earned) on six hits in six innings. Luke Harmon struck out three batters, yielded two walks and gave up zero runs on zero hits in two innings.
Anderson outhit Franklin 6-5. Wolf and Gum each went 2-for-3. Hogan contributed a solo homer and two total RBI. Dorton rounded out Anderson's six hits with a single.
Redmon went 2-for-4 while Helton, Wagner and Deering rounded out Franklin's five hits with singles.

Men's Track & Field Take Fifth in Indiana D-III Championships
The Anderson University men's track and field team took fifth place during Saturday's Indiana D-III Championships in Greencastle.
Michael Sweigart led Anderson with a dominant day in the throws, winning the discus with a personal-record mark of 48.52 meters (159 feet, 2 inches) to rank first in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) while also capturing first in the hammer throw at 57.04 meters (187 feet, 2 inches). The senior from Alexandria added a second-place finish in the shot put at 15.63 meters (51 feet, 3.5 inches). DaeQuan Viverette placed third in the discus with a personal-record (PR) throw of 42.05 meters (137 feet, 11 inches). Isaiah Buchanan recorded a PR mark of 13.79 meters (45 feet, 3 inches) to place fifth in the shot put and added a PR in the hammer at 49.00 meters (160 feet, 9 inches), ranking fifth in the HCAC.
Josiah Marshall posted a PR mark of 13.08 meters (42 feet, 11 inches) to finish second in the triple jump and added a sixth-place finish in the long jump at 6.56 meters (21 feet, 6.25 inches). Zaire Prioleau secured third in the triple jump at 12.57 meters (41 feet, 3 inches) and added a PR clearance of 1.73 meters (5 feet, 8 inches) in the high jump.
Kaleb Eldridge clocked a PR time of 15.95 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles to place fourth and rank fourth in the HCAC, while also recording a PR time of 59.67 seconds in the 400 hurdles. Dillon Pratt placed eighth in the 400 with a season-best time of 51.61 seconds and added a season-best time of 23.85 seconds in the 200, while Elijah Stires recorded a personal-best time of 52.87 seconds in the 400.
Johnnie Behrends posted a PR time of 4:05.93 in the 1,500 to rank seventh in the HCAC, while Maxwell Cobb added a PR time of 4:45.58 in the 1,500. David Lane recorded a personal-best time of 17:55.82 in the 5,000.
The 4x400 relay team of Stires, Marshall, Joaquin Bautista and Pratt placed fifth with a time of 3:29.19, while the 4x100 relay team of Myles Davis, Adam Dunson, Eldridge and Marshall finished sixth in 45.12 seconds.
Davis (100 – 11.44 seconds), Bautista (100 – 12.01 seconds), Jaylen Hayes (javelin – 40.84 meters [134 feet, 0 inches]) and Obie Poole (javelin – 34.30 meters [112 feet, 6 inches]) each posted PRs.
Anderson battles in the two-day Little State Championships, which begins on Friday, April 17 at 4 p.m. in Marion.

The Anderson University men's tennis (8-7, 5-0) team swept Manchester University (1-12, 0-3) by a score of 7-0 during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in North Manchester.
The Ravens claimed the doubles point with wins from Martin Suarez and Jacob Davenport at No. 1 doubles, Ezekiel Bergen and Will Fosnot at No. 2 doubles and Pedro Sette and Kenny Almanza at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Anderson completed the sweep with victories from Arturo Mendoza at No. 1 singles, Luis Guerrero at No. 2 singles, Santiago Terbonati at No. 3 singles, Davis Borders at No. 4 singles, Thomas Kennedy at No. 5 singles and Cody Hawkins at No. 6 singles.
Anderson faces off with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (10-7, 4-0) in the battle for the sole HCAC lead on Saturday, April 18 at 2 p.m. in Terre Haute at Terre Haute North High School.

Women's Tennis Coasts Past Manchester
The Anderson University women's tennis (1-12, 0-3) team swept Manchester University (0-9, 0-2) by a score of 7-0 during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in North Manchester.
The Ravens secured the doubles point with wins from Ella Frantz and Paula Torrent at No. 1 doubles and Abby Cunningham and Ella Maiden at No. 2 doubles. Kate Oberle and Isabella Patterson received a win at No. 3 doubles by walkover.
In singles play, Anderson completed the sweep with victories from Frantz at No. 1 singles, Torrent at No. 2 singles, Cunningham at No. 3 singles, Patterson at No. 4 singles, Oberle at No. 5 singles and Maiden at No. 6 singles.

Softball Falls to Franklin
The Anderson University softball team fell to Franklin College during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) doubleheader at the Raven Softball Field.
Franklin (19-5, 4-0) charged past Anderson (8-16, 2-4) by a score of 13-3 in six innings in Game 1. The Grizzlies then fought past Anderson 5-4 in Game 2.
The Grizzlies outhit the Ravens 11-9 In Game 1. Lindsey Pickering went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Alexis Schultz went 2-for-3. Ariannah Jones (2-3) suffered the loss.
Both teams recorded 11 hits apiece in Game 2. Pickering delivered a solo home run and drove in two total runs. Paycee Lewis went 2-for-3, Avery Owens finished 2-for-4 and Maddie Schoenradt drove in two runs. Hannah Merkel (2-4) was hit with the loss.

Women's Track & Field Places Eighth in Indiana D-III Championships
The Anderson University women's track and field team placed eighth in the Indiana D-III Championships on Saturday in Greencastle.
Lai'Lonie Waller-Thomas led Anderson in the field events, recording a personal-record (PR) mark of 35.76 meters (117 feet, 4 inches) in the discus to secure fourth and rank fourth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC).
In distance events, Hattie Harlow posted a PR time of 20 minutes, 18.12 seconds in the 5,000-meter run, while Jade Witt added a PR time of 23:16.35 in the same event. Andrea Diaz recorded a PR time of 5:35.20 in the 1,500 and added a season-best time of 2:45.29 in the 800.
On the track, Madi Aaron clocked a PR time of 1:17.01 in the 400 and added a PR time of 2:58.15 in the 800.
The Ravens compete in the two-day Little State Championships, which begins on Friday, April 17 at 4 p.m. in Marion.
