Tennis Cruises to Sweep of Berea
The Anderson University tennis teams cruised to sweeps of Berea College during Sunday’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchups in Pendleton at the Community Sport & Wellness Center.
The Anderson University tennis teams cruised to sweeps of Berea College during Sunday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchups in Pendleton at the Community Sport & Wellness Center.
Both Anderson teams rolled to 7-0 shutouts. Anderson's men moved to 4-4 with a 1-0 conference record while Anderson's women moved to 3-6 with a 1-0 conference. Both Berea teams hold an 0-1 overall record and an 0-1 HCAC record.
During the men's doubles, Martin Suarez/Will Fosnot secured a win at No. 1 Doubles while Jude Minton/David Lewis earned a win at No. 2 Doubles. Davis Borders/Luis Guerrero received a win at No. 3 Doubles by default. Jacob Davenport earned the win at No. 1 Singles, Thomas Kennedy took the win at No. 2 Singles, Cody Hawkins claimed the win at No. 3 Singles, Kenny Almanza secured the win at No. 4 Singles and Minton captured the win at No. 5 Singles. During the women's doubles, Isabella Patterson/Gabby Hosier locked up the win at No. 1 Doubles. Ella Frantz/Paula Torrent and Jenna Jenkins/Abby Cunningham received wins at No. 2 and No. 3 Doubles, respectively. In singles, Torrent took the win at No. 1 Singles and Kate Oberle claimed the win at No. 2 Singles. Anderson battles Earlham College in HCAC action on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Community Sport & Wellness Center.
