Women’s Swimming & Diving Takes Fourth in HCAC Championships

The Anderson University women's swimming and diving team took fourth place in the four-day Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships, which concluded on Saturday at the Vigo County Aquatic Center in Terre Haute.

Anderson totaled five school records, 35 personal records and 14 additional season bests.

COACH NATHAN MANLEY'S COMMENTS

• Anderson has led the conference in team percentage of career bests at the HCAC Championships during the last two seasons. While we continue to grow the depth of this young program, swimmers here are making great strides in the pool.  That is a testament to their hard work and love for the sport.
• The women were led by senior Morgan Ferguson and sophomore Talia Leer.  Morgan posted a new school record in the 200 freestyle (2:00.23) leading off the women's 800 freestyle relay which also broke the school record (Morgan Ferguson, Talia Leer, Callie Manley, Ella Rector).  Ferguson finished third in arguably her best event, the 200 individual medley, in a new school record (2:14.98) as well.  She finished 3rd in the 200 breaststroke and 4th in the 400 individual medley. Ferguson and Leer both posted the fastest relay splits of the season on the women's 4 x 100 freestyle relay which narrowly missed the school record by 0.09 seconds.
• Talia Leer led the Lady Ravens with 43 total points including a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (marking school records in the 50 and 100 breaststroke during her finals swim - 32.22/1:09.19). She also took second in the 200 breaststroke where she missed the school record by just .04 seconds. Leer finished 4th in the 50 free (24.77), again just missing the best school mark by .07 seconds.
• Senior Reagan Kimmell posted personal bests in the 800 and 400 freestyle relays, 200 medley relay, and a season best in the 500.
• 13 of 14 women produced at least one collegiate career best performance and several notched PRs in all of their individual events including Talia Leer, Callie Manley, Emily Truman and Madalyn Sink.
• We will sorely miss the leadership and competitiveness of our seniors. They have helped raise the bar on the record board, been outstanding student-athletes, and helped to establish a culture of excellence and character.
