Hunter's Win Highlights HCAC Dual

Anderson University women's swimmer Lily Hunter (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) captured first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.68 seconds as the Ravens took on undefeated Franklin College in Friday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) dual at Bennett Natatorium.

Franklin (7-0, 4-0) locked up a 174-56 victory against the Ravens (1-2, 1-2)

"Franklin boasts an extremely competitive program as both their men and women won the HCAC Championship last year," Coach Tanner Barton said. "This program also sent five women to the 2019 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships."

Hunter took down a competitive field for the win in the 100 freestyle. The freshman from Westfield clocked a time of 25.86 seconds in the 50 freestyle.

"Lily had a very strong start to the 100 freestyle and didn't falter down the stretch.  Her individual victory over the field is extremely impressive."

Claire Leibold (Dayton, Ohio/Archbishop Alter) turned in a time of 11 minutes, 54.75 seconds in the 1,000 freestyle.

Tess Maubach (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) raced to a time of 2:09.55 in the 200 freestyle.

Halle Strege (McCordsville, Ind./Mount Vernon) tallied a score of 156.95 points in her first round of 1-meter diving. She then notched a score of 207.60 in her second round of 1-meter diving.

Bennett Natatorium saw a packed house for Friday's HCAC dual.

"This was our second home meet of the season.  It's always exciting to host a meet here and to see members of the campus community coming to support our student-athletes."

Anderson returns to action on Jan. 11 with an HCAC dual against Hanover College (0-2, 0-1) at 2 p.m. in Hanover.

"We now transition into a month dedicated to training.  This is the time for us to improve upon our current technique and speed."
