Swimming & Diving Breaks Three School Records in Day 1 of HCAC Championships
The Anderson University swimming and diving team broke three school records in Day 1 of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships on Wednesday in Terre Haute at Vigo County Aquatic Center.
The Anderson University swimming and diving team broke three school records in Day 1 of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships on Wednesday in Terre Haute at Vigo County Aquatic Center.
Anderson's women fielded an 800-yard freestyle relay team of Morgan Ferguson, Talia Leer, Callie Manley and Ella Rector, which secured third place with a school-record time 8 minutes, 14.14 seconds. The relay team earned all-HCAC Honorable Mention with the finish. Ferguson also improved her 200 freestyle school record with an opening relay split of 2:00.23.
Anderson's men put together an 800 freestyle relay team of Noah Singleton, Ethan Scialabba, Avery Wright and Reid Haney, which turned in a fifth-place finish with a time of 7:12.57. Singleton's opening 200 freestyle split of 1:44.02 also set a school record.
Franklin College leads the women's standings with 52 points. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is currently in second with 42 points, ahead of Anderson (36), Transylvania University (34), Hanover College (26), Bluffton University (0) and Manchester University (0).
Transylvania leads the men's standings with 80 points. Rose-Hulman is currently in second with 60 points, ahead of Franklin (52), Anderson (30), Manchester (28), Bluffton (0) and Hanover (0).
Anderson battles in Day 2 of the HCAC Championships on Thursday with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and finals beginning at 5 p.m.
