Singleton, Ferguson Break School Records in Day 2 of HCAC Championships
After Day 2 of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships at Vigo County Aquatic Center in Terre Haute, the women sit in third place in the team standings while the men hold fifth in the team standings.
After Day 2 of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships at Vigo County Aquatic Center in Terre Haute, the women sit in third place in the team standings while the men hold fifth in the team standings.
On the women's side, Morgan Ferguson earned third in the 200-yard individual medley with a school-record time of 2 minutes, 14.98 seconds. Ferguson earned all-HCAC Honorable Mention with the finish. The Ravens secured all-HCAC Honorable Mention in the 400 medley relay by fielding a team of Ella Rector, Talia Leer, Ferguson and Madalyn Sink, which posted a time of 4:12.98.
On the men's side, Noah Singleton broke the school record in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:55.47. He then improved the school record in the 200 individual medley finals by taking second with a time of 1:55.19. Reid Haney won the 500 freestyle prelims with a time of 4:43.51. He then claimed second in the 500 freestyle finals with a time of 4:40.98. Both Singleton and Haney garnered second-team all-HCAC honors with their second-place finals finishes.
Franklin College leads the women's standings with 352 points. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology currently holds second with 196 points and is ahead of Anderson (180), Transylvania University (175), Bluffton University (66), Hanover College (64) and Manchester University (10).
Franklin has tallied 262 points in the men's standings and leads Rose-Hulman (256) by six points. Transylvania sits in third with 217 points and is ahead of Manchester (143), Anderson (123), Hanover (45) and Bluffton (0).
Anderson continues with Day 3 of the HCAC Championships on Friday. The prelims begin at 10 a.m. and the finals begin at 5 p.m.
