Track & Field Combines for 16 Personal Records in George Glass Invitational
The Anderson University men and women's track and field teams combined for 16 personal records (PR's) during Saturday's George Glass Invitational in Upland.
"We competed hard and did our best," Coach Nic Huffman said. "It was a good day. We had a tough week of practice, so we were pretty tired going into the meet. I'm happy with how well we responded throughout the day. There is still so much work to do."
On the men's side, Anderson captured the top two spots in the distance medley relay. The Ravens fielded a distance medley relay 'A' team of Kyle Corbin, Ryan Krake, Johnnie Behrends and David Stansbury, which locked up first place with a time of 11 minutes, 46.98 seconds. Anderson's distance medley relay 'B' team consisted of David Lane, Caleb Savage, Maxwell Cobb and Cole Koontz, which took second (12:23.73). Dillon Pratt crossed the finish line third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.85 seconds. Joaquin Bautista earned third in the triple jump with a distance of 10.68 meters (35 feet, 0.5 inches). Anderson put together a 4x400 relay of Jaylan Seeko, Elijah Stires, Bautista and Pratt earned fifth (3:39.63).
Zaire Prioleau posted PR's in both the 60-meter dash (7.87) and the long jump (5.79 meters; 19 feet, 0 inches). Stires charged to a PR time of 7.57 seconds in the 60-meter dash while Bautista sprinted to a PR 60-meter dash time of 7.61 seconds. Seeko clocked a 200 PR time of 25.41 seconds. Qi'Yam Simmons turned in a PR distance of 13.96 meters (45 feet, 9.75 inches). Connor Etchison launched the shot put a PR distance of 12.9 meters (42 feet, 4 inches). Trevor Martin tossed the shot put a PR distance of 10.19 meters (33 feet, 5.25 inches). Daniel Lopez provided a PR distance of 11.53 meters (37 feet, 10 inches) in the weight throw.
On the women's side, Anderson fielded a distance medley relay team of Lyvia Salo, Andrea Diaz, Jade Witt and Hattie Harlow, which locked up second (14:53.6). Naomi Hoover captured fourth in the 400 with a PR time of 1 minute, 6.11 seconds while Katie Ripberger took sixth (1:08.08) in the 400. Lai'Lonie Waller-Thomas set PR's in both the shot put (10.83 meters; 35 feet, 6.5 inches) and the weight throw (13.83 meters; 45 feet, 4.5 inches). Salo clocked a 1 mile PR time of 6:25.49. Peyton Bundy posted PR's in both the shot put (8.64 meters; 28 feet, 4.25 inches) and the weight throw (10.4 meters; 34 feet, 1.5 inches).
Anderson hosts the AU Invite as well as Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. in the Kardatzke Wellness Center.
Men's Swimming & Diving Drops Losses to Bethel, Indiana Wesleyan
The Anderson University men's swimming and diving team (4-7) dropped losses to Bethel University (Ind.) (6-5) and Indiana Wesleyan University (6-2) on Saturday in Elkhart. Bethel earned a 138-51 win while Indiana Wesleyan secured a 131-61 victory. In the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) ratings, Bethel is ranked No. 18 while Indiana Wesleyan is ranked No. 23. Reid Haney captured first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4 minutes, 53.03 seconds and claimed second in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:06.12. Noah Singleton secured second in both the 200 backstroke (2:04.49) and the 200 individual medley (2:00.62). Thinh Tran clocked a 100 breaststroke personal-record time of 1:16.49 and Gage Lane turned in a season-best time of 24.01 seconds in the 50 freestyle. The Ravens compete in the four-day Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC), beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. in Terre Haute at Vigo County Aquatic Center.

Women's Swimming & Diving Falls to Bethel, Indiana Wesleyan
The Anderson University women's swimming and diving team (5-6) fell to Bethel University (Ind.) (11-1) and Indiana Wesleyan University (7-2) on Saturday in Elkhart. Bethel secured a 188-42 win while Indiana Wesleyan secured a 167-47 victory. In the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) ratings, Bethel is ranked No. 5 while Indiana Wesleyan is ranked No. 12. Reagan Kimmell clocked a 50-yard freestyle personal-record (PR) time of 32.52 seconds. Emilee Knueven turned in a PR 50 freestyle split of 29.35 seconds. Ella Rector recorded season-best times with a 50-freestyle split of 26.77 seconds and a 200 backstroke time of 2:19.37. Morgan Ferguson posted a season-best time of 1:04.19 in the 100 breaststroke.
