Men Capture First, Women Take Second in AU Track & Field Invite
The Anderson University men’s track and field team captured first place in the AU Invite on Saturday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center. On the women’s side, Anderson took second in the team standings.

The Ravens also celebrated Senior Day. Anderson recognized seniors Joaquin Bautista, Jasmyn Benjamin, Ellasyn Bruner, Jenn Eisinger, Kade Hill, Paige McKain, Zaire Prioleau and David Stansbury for their contributions to the Anderson track and field/cross country program.
"[Saturday] was a fun day," Coach Nic Huffman said. "We battled hard in front of the home crowd. The excitement let us get a lot of personal bests and had some breakthroughs. There was a lot of confidence gained this week. We will enjoy the day and have plenty to work on next week. There is much more room for growth."
On the men's side, Anderson locked up first place with 154.5 points. Union Commonwealth University secured second with 133 points, finishing ahead of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College (121), Oakland City University (104), Indiana University Columbus (48), Earlham College (27) and Sentry Running Club (14) which rounds out the team standings.
On the women's side, St. Mary-of-the-Woods claimed first with 115 points. Anderson came in second with 97 points, finishing ahead of Union (77), Earlham (69), Oakland City (47), IU Columbus (45), Sentry (10), Indiana University Kokomo (8) and University of St. Francis (Ind.) (5) to round out the team standings.
For Anderson's team awards, Lai'Lonie Waller-Thomas and Lyvia Salo were co-winners of the Anderson XCTF Performer of the Meet on the women's side. Waller-Thomas locked up first in both the shot put (11.10 meters; 36 feet, 5 inches) and weight throw (14.63 meters; 48 feet, 0 inches) while setting personal records (PR's) in both events. Salo knocked 45 seconds off her PR in the 3,000-meter run, earning third in the event. On the men's side, the 4x400 'A' Team of Jaylan Seeko, Elijah Stires, Johnnie Behrends and Dillon Pratt was named the Anderson XCTF Performer of the Meet after taking first in the event with a time of 3 minutes, 41.47 seconds.
On top of the 4x400 win, the men picked up two individual wins. Behrends raced to first in the 1 Mile with a PR time of 4:36.70. Kaleb Eldridge charged to first in the 60-meter hurdles with a PR time of 8.82 seconds.
The women scored three individual wins in the college division. Waller-Thomas collected first-place overall finishes in both the shot put and weight throw. Hattie Harlow claimed second overall and first in the college division in the 1 mile with a time of 6:01.08.
