Men’s Track & Field Adds Two Top 50 Performances to National Leaderboard at Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier
The Anderson University men’s track and field team added two top 50 performances to the NCAA D-III national leaderboard during the two-day Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier, which concluded on Thursday in Rock Island, Ill.

Anderson also turned in three personal records (PRs).
"We had a great meet with the four guys," Coach Nic Huffman said. The weather was warm and sunny and competition was deep. We showed up with our best, so I was really pleased with how we ended the regular season. Michael and Isaiah had their best series of throws all season, Josiah had his best series of jumps, plus Qi'yam saved a duck and a dozen of her ducklings. We represented AU well and I'm really proud of these young men. Some big things are happening and we gained some valuable experience."
Josiah Marshall captured second place in the triple jump with a PR distance of 14.55 meters (47 feet, 9 inches). The sophomore from Huber Heights, Ohio moved up 29th on the NCAA D-III leaderboard for the triple jump. Marshall took third in the long jump with a distance of 6.96 meters (22 feet, 10 inches).
Michael Sweigart launched the hammer a distance of 59.00 meters (193 feet, 7 inches) to secure third place. He also took third in the open flight of the discus with a PR distance of 49.40 meters (162 feet, 1 inch). The senior from Alexandria moved up to 41st on the NCAA D-III leaderboard. Sweigart finished ninth in the shot put with a distance of 14.63 meters (48 feet, 0 inches).
Isaiah Buchanan claimed 11th in the hammer with a PR distance of 53.66 meters (176 feet, 0 inches). He also posted a distance of 13.61 meters (44 feet, 8 inches). Qi'yam Simmons fired the discus a distance of 43.17 meters (141 feet, 8 inches).
Sweigart currently ranks 11th on the NCAA D-III national leaderboard with a distance of 59.94 meters (196 feet, 8 inches). The three-day NCAA D-III Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set to begin on Thursday, May 21 at La Crosse, Wis.
