Ravens Lock Up HCAC Win against Panthers

The Anderson University women's swimming and diving team locked up an 112-75 victory against Hanover College during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) dual in Hanover.

"I was thrilled to see how well our women competed," Coach Tanner Barton said. "They set the tone early and showed that they were ready to compete in this conference dual meet."

Anderson (2-2, 2-2) took control of the meet by topping the Panthers (0-3, 0-2) in the first five events of the day.

"Not only did the women win the 200 Medley Relay to start the meet, but they then followed it up by winning the next four individual events. I'm very proud of their performances."

The Ravens fielded a 200-yard medley relay of Tess Maubach, Jessica Pulaski, Tori Haessig and Lily Hunter, which captured first place with a time of 2 minutes, 1.17 seconds.

Kaitlyn Hopp took first in both the 1,000 freestyle (11:54.27) and the 500 freestyle (5:52.65). The sophomore from Downers Grove, Ill. also secured second (2:32.97) in the 200 individual medley.

Lillia Mitchell claimed first (2:27.95) in the 200 individual medley. The sophomore from Crawfordsville earned second (1:16.87) in the 100 breaststroke.

Lily Hunter charged to first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.99 seconds. Jessica Pulaski raced to first (1:16.24) in the 100 breaststroke. Brooke Denouden finished first (2:10.10) in the 200 freestyle. Claire Leibold put together a second-place finish (12:11.98) in the 1,000 freestyle.

"[Saturday's] victory was a true team effort and it would be unfair to highlight only one or two women."

The Ravens battle Wittenberg University (0-6) next Saturday at 1 p.m. in Springfield, Ohio.

"The women will continue to use this momentum as we prep for Wittenberg University next week. If we continue to focus on the small details, we will continue to swim exceptionally well."
