Nic Huffman enters the 2025-26 season in his fifth year as the Anderson University head track and field coach and his fifth year as an assistant cross country coach.

During the 2021-22 season, Anderson women’s track and field took fourth in both the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Indoor Championships and the HCAC Outdoor Championships. They marked the program’s best outdoor conference finish since 2013-14 and the program’s best indoor finish since 2015-16. Anderson men’s track and field also claimed fourth in the 2022-23 HCAC Indoor Championships and fifth in the 2023-24 HCAC Outdoor Championships.

Huffman has mentored Michael Sweigart, who captured ninth place in the weight throw during the 2024 NCAA D-III Indoor Championships. In 2025, Sweigart followed up by taking 10th in the weight throw at indoor nations. Sweigart has broken the school record in both the outdoor hammer throw and the indoor weight throw.  He has been tabbed the HCAC Most Outstanding Throws Athlete for the 2023 HCAC Outdoor Championships and the 2025 HCAC Indoor Championships. Anderson has posted combined totals of three school records, five all-region selections, one United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Individual, five HCAC major award winners, 11 HCAC event champions, 38 all-conference performances, 14 HCAC Athletes of the Week and 74 academic all-HCAC recipients during Huffman’s tenure. The women's team has been named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team in each of the four years of Huffman's tenure while the men's team was selected with the same honor in the 2022-23 season.

Huffman served as an assistant track & field/cross country coach at Ohio Christian University from 2016-19, leading the sprint, hurdle and jump groups. During that time, the sprint, hurdle and jumping totaled four National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national qualifiers and two NAIA All-Americans. The Ohio Christian women's track and field team achieved No. 15 national ranking during Huffman's tenure. Huffman also served as an admissions counselor during his time at Ohio Christian.

Huffman took on the role of assistant track & field/cross country coach at Roanoke College from 2012-14 where he led the jump group. Huffman was part of the women's 2013 and 2014 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship teams.

Huffman served as an assistant track & field coach at Anderson University during the previous three years. During that time, the Ravens notched 24 HCAC event titles and seven HCAC Athletes of the Week in track and field. Anderson also secured second in the 2012 HCAC Women's Outdoor Championships.

From 2019-21, Huffman spent two years as a personal fitness and wellness consultant at Exercise Inc. in the Indianapolis area, as well as the Children's Museum of Indianapolis in the Riley Sports Legends Experience.

As a track and field athlete at Anderson, Huffman was a four-time all-HCAC recipient and a member of three conference championship teams. Huffman competed on a conference-winning 4x400 relay team in each of his four years at Anderson.  Huffman captured the 400-meter hurdles conference title as a sophomore and junior. He then locked up the HCAC title in the javelin as a senior. He still ranks in the top 10 in school history in the 400 hurdles and the 4x400. The Ravens captured conference titles in 2005, 2006 and 2007 during his time at Anderson.

Huffman graduated from Anderson in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in History. He then earned his Master of Business Administration at Ohio Christian University.
