Men’s Golf Captures Third in HCAC Championships
The Anderson University men’s golf team captured third place in three-day Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships on Sunday in Richmond, Ky.
The Anderson University men's golf team captured third place in three-day Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships on Sunday in Richmond, Ky.
Anderson put together the program's best finish in the conference meet since 2008.
Luke LeBourdais tied for fifth place, earning the program's best individual finish in the conference meet since 2008. With his top-5 finish, LeBourdais was named to the HCAC All-Tournament Team.
Anderson recorded a 54-hole team score of 922 (+58) behind rounds of 309 (+21), 311 (+23) and 302 (+14).
LeBourdais posted a 54-hole score of 223 (+7). The senior from Saginaw, Mich. fired rounds of 74, 75 and 74 on the par-72 layout at Boone's Trace National Golf Club. Carter Wooddell tied for 11th with a 230 (+14) after carding rounds of 75, 75 and 80.
Owen Mockabee tied for 20th with a 236 (+20) after shooting rounds of 86, 80 and 70. The senior from Lebanon, Ohio turned in relative-to-par personal records for 18 holes (-2), 36 holes (+6) and 54 holes. Mockabee's round of -2 marks the second-lowest round in the modern era dating back to 2011. The round only trails LeBourdais's round of -4 in the Wabash College Invitational earlier this fall.
Trent Nelson tied for 22nd with a 238 (+22), behind rounds of 79, 81 and 78. John Mercer finished 31st with a 248 (+32) after shooting rounds of 81, 81 and 86.
Transylvania University (867) captured first with a score of 867. Franklin College came in second in the team standings with a 910, finishing ahead of Anderson, Mount St. Joseph University (926), Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (931), Hanover College (940), Bluffton University (954), Earlham College (1,000) and Berea College (1,101), which rounded out the team standings.
