Quakers Battle Past Ravens

Wilmington College battle past the Anderson University men's lacrosse team with a 16-11 victory on Wednesday at Macholtz Stadium.
"We started well in the first half, but started out of the gate slow after halftime and Wilmington took advantage of our mistakes clearing the ball," Coach Jacob Ashton said.
Jonathan Orloff (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) poured in six goals to lead the Ravens (1-6).
"Jonathan really made an impact with his play. I'm proud of his efforts and his accomplishments. He really kept us in the game."
Logan Lawrence (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) and Jacob Spratley (Columbus, Ind./Columbus East) provided four points apiece on two goals and two assists each. Tristan Wilbrandt (Fishers, Ind./Cathedral) added a goal and an assist. Sam Ellis (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) dished out three assists while Caleb Spencer (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) tallied two assists.
Spratley won 14-of-27 (51.9 percent) faceoffs and collected a game-high 11 ground balls. Joel Lee (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) caused turnovers and collected nine ground balls. Ellis and Wilbrandt recorded six ground balls.
Andrew Miller led the Quakers (2-5) with six points on four goals and two assists. Connor Judge totaled five points on four goals and an assist. Zac Chucta contributed four points on three goals and an assist while Jadon Flannery netted three goals. Mike Smith provided a goal and an assist. Austin Young scored a goal and Robbie Mihlako recorded an assist.
Smith earned wins on 12-of-23 (52.2 percent) faceoffs. Smith posted team-highs four caused turnovers and 10 ground balls. Flannery created three turnovers and notched seven ground balls.
Reed Beavers saw 25 shots for the Quakers and came up with 14 saves.
Eric Fisher (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) saved 16 of the 32 shots he faced for the Ravens.
Anderson and Wilmington both finished at 14 faceoff wins apiece. The Quakers held a 32-25 advantage in shots on goal, despite the Ravens outshooting the Quakers 61-44.

Anderson cleared 18-of-26 (69.2 percent) attempts while Wilmington finished 18-of-28 (64.2 percent) of its clears.
The Ravens committed 32 turnovers while the Quakers turned the ball over 30 times. Anderson held a 51-40 advantage on ground balls.
The first half was highly-contested as the two teams were never separated by more than a goal. Anderson took a 4-3 lead after the first quarter with the help of three goals from Orloff during the period. The back-and-forth continued until Wilmington entered halftime with an 8-7 lead.
Orloff provided a man-up goal assisted by Spratley at the beginning of the third quarter to tie the match at 8-all. Wilmington received two goals from Flannery along with goals from Judge and Miller to gain a 12-8 advantage through three quarters. Wilmington outscored Anderson 4-3 in the fourth. Judge found the back of the net in the fourth to cap off five consecutive goals for the Quakers.
