The Anderson University softball team opens the season with six games in Florida and four games in Kentucky during a nine-day span.
Anderson returns senior outfielder Maddie Schoenradt who garnered first-team all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) honors and third-team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) all-region recognition. The Lafayette native broke both Anderson's career stolen base record with 81 and single-season stolen base record with 33. She received Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Hitter of the Week twice last season. Among NCAA D-III leaders, Schoenradt ranked ninth in stolen bases per game (1.06), 11th in runs per game (1.26) and 24th in stolen base percentage (0.971), while leading the HCAC in each category. Schoenradt went 44-for-108 with a .407 batting average last season. Among HCAC leaders, Schoenradt ranked second in stolen bases, second in runs (39), second in slugging percentage (.713), second in on-base plus slugging (OPS) (1.152), second in total bases (77), T-2 in home runs (5), fourth in triples (4), fifth in batting average and 10th in hits.
Paycee Lewis returns from last year's starting lineup after going 22-for-82 with a .268 batting average. The sophomore from Martinsville provided 21 RBI, eight doubles and a homer last season. Anderson brings back junior Belle Blickenstaff and junior Kylie Coleman from last year's lineup. Blickenstaff is projected to start at shortstop while Lewis and Coleman are projected to account for the two corner infield positions. In the pitcher's circle, the Ravens return juniors M.J.
