Student Princes Top Ravens

Heidelberg University topped the Anderson University women's lacrosse team in a 17-2 victory on Wednesday at Macholtz Stadium.
CJ Pinyot (Indianapolis, Ind./Heritage Christian) and Samantha Huber (St. Louis, Mo./Westminster Christian) each produced goals for the Ravens (0-2). Kiaha Nichols (Shipshewana, Ind./Westview) collected four ground balls while Pinyot finished with three ground balls. Kaitlyn Lawson (Newburgh, Ind./Castle) and Mallory Housman (Evansville, Ind./Memorial) provided a shot apiece for Anderson.
Angela Lulejian paced the Student Princes (1-2) with five goals and eight draw controls. Dana Dudley contributed six points off four goals and two assists. Jen Kovarik scored four points off three goals and an assist. Emmy Flottman-Mullen turned in two goals and an assist while Jenna Carmen put together one goal and two assists. Alexandria Farmer and Kelly Spence each provided goals while Maureen Kelly added an assist. Anna Winnicki forced four turnovers for the Student Princes while Kelly and Winnicki each picked up three ground balls.
Jessica Ballow started as the goalie for Heidelberg for the opening 40 minutes, 24 seconds and saved both of the shots she faced. Mandi Phillips filled in for the remaining 19:36 and recorded one save on three shots.
Nichols went against 19 shots for the Ravens and posted two saves.
Heidelberg cleared 10-of-11 (90.9 percent) attempts while Anderson finished 10-of-16 (62.5 percent) clears.
The Student Princes captured an 18-2 advantage in draw controls.
"It's impossible to win a game if we don't win draws," Coach Colin McSharar said. "The stat columns were fairly even outside of draw controls. Lucky for us, everything that we really need to improve on is simple and fixable."
Anderson battles Trine University (2-1) next Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Macholtz Stadium.
