Ravens Find Second-Half Spark in Program Debut
March 2, 2019
Monmouth College topped the Anderson University women's lacrosse team during Anderson's program debut with an 18-8 victory at Macholtz Stadium on Saturday.
The Ravens (0-1) found an offensive spark in the second half, rattling off four goals in a five-minute stretch.
"We scored a bunch of goals for the short amount of time that we had on offense," said coach Colin McSharar said. "We had a pretty cool little run there in the second half to make this game very interesting very quickly. Partway through the second half, I stopped coaching there for a bit, just sat back as a fan and watched this team grow right in front of me. [Saturday] was one of the proudest days that I've had as a coach."
The Ravens progressively improved on defense as they began to slow down the tempo of Monmouth's offense.
"I know that it doesn't look like it on the scoreboard, but the defense played extremely well. We forced long possessions, and forced Monmouth to go into their third and fourth progressions."
CJ Pinyot (Indianapolis, Ind./Heritage Christian) notched four goals to lead the Ravens. Samantha Huber (St. Louis, Mo./Westminster Christian) provided two goals, collected eight draw controls and forced three turnovers. Mallory Housman (Evansville, Ind./Memorial) contributed a goal and an assist. She collected five ground balls and caused four turnovers. Kaitlyn Lawson (Newburgh, Ind./Castle) added a goal for Anderson. Nadia Bentley (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) picked up four ground balls.

Amanda Green netted four goals. Aspen Chadderdon produced four points off three goals and an assist while providing eight draw controls and four ground balls. Lanie Perez, Mel Fairand and Angham Jaradat each turned in one goal and one assist for two points. McKenzie DeVilder scored a goal and Grace Woerner dished out an assist.
