Anderson Announces Burnstedt as Esports Head Coach
The Anderson University athletic department and athletic director Marcie Taylor have announced Matt Burnstedt as the next head esports coach.

"I'm pleased to welcome Matt Burnstedt as the new head coach of the esports program," Athletic Director Marcie Taylor said. "Matt's experience as a gamer and coach will be valuable to the program's continued development. He possesses the passion and discipline necessary to be a successful recruiter, along with the character and relationship skills to be a strong mentor to the students in the esports program."
Burnstedt graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He then earned a Master of Business Leadership & Management degree with a concentration in Athletic Administration from Iowa Wesleyan University and graduated with a 4.0 GPA.
Burnstedt has put together seven years of gaming experience. During that time, Burnstedt has achieved a top match-making ranking (MMR) of Platinum 1 in League of Legends and has tallied 2,500 hours in League of Legends. Burnstedt has also coached teams at esports tournaments for two years.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to contribute to Anderson University's culture and environment by further developing the esports program, and I can't wait to get started," Burnstedt stated.
Burnstedt has spent the last year with AEP Energy as a contract specialist. He has also served as a project manager, a sales and marketing representative, and a recruiter at prior places of employment.
Anderson University is on a mission to educate students for lives of faith and service, offering more than 60 undergraduate majors, 30 three-year degrees, 20 NCAA Division III intercollegiate sports, alongside adult and graduate programs. The private, liberal arts institution is fully accredited and recognized among top colleges for its business, computer science, cybersecurity, dance, engineering, nursing, and teacher education programs. Anderson University was established in 1917 in Anderson, Indiana, by the Church of God.
