Baseball Completes Series Sweep of Knox
The Anderson University baseball team completed a series sweep with a 1-0 pitchers duel win against Knox College on Sunday at Don Brandon Field.
The Anderson University baseball team completed a series sweep with a 1-0 pitchers duel win against Knox College on Sunday at Don Brandon Field.
Anderson (4-4-1) also picked up two wins against the Prairie Fire (0-3) on Saturday. The Ravens outlasted the Prairie Fire 4-3 in 12 innings. Anderson then charged to a 10-0 victory in eight innings.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Jon Dorsch led off with a walk. Garrett Craig came in to pinch run for Dorsch. Zayden Stiller moved Craig to second on a sacrifice bunt. Craig then stole third base. Russell Weaver cracked an RBI single to give Anderson a 1-0 lead.
With one out in the top of the ninth, Knox's Thomas Milmot and Aidan McMurtrie recorded consecutive singles. Evan Rinehart recorded the next two outs to seal the victory.
Rex Richter started the game for the Ravens. He struck out six batters, issued three walks and allowed zero runs on three hits in six and two thirds innings. Rinehart (1-0) came up with the win. He walked zero batters and conceded zero runs on two hits in two and one-third innings.
Anderson outhit Knox 10-5. Weaver went 2-for-3 with an RBI single. Craig contributed a run and a stolen base. Trey Dorton finished 3-for-4. The Ravens also received singles from Daniel Barreca, Griffin Wolf, Ben Brown, Dorsch and Donnie Sinkhorn to round out Anderson's 10 hits.
Anderson opens its Florida Spring Break Trip on Friday by taking on Waynesburg University (4-2) at 9:15 a.m. in Winter Haven, Fla. at Chain of Lakes Field #2.
