Men's Soccer Begins Ninth Trip to Europe

Men's Soccer Begins Ninth Trip to Europe
The Anderson University men's soccer team begins the program's ninth trip to Europe on Thursday with Italy and Spain as the destination sites.
"We look forward to a great tour to Italy and Spain," Coach Scott Fridley said. "This is the first time we have adventured to Spain.  There is great soccer there to be played and to be seen.   When we start getting the trip together three years ago, the guys really wanted to include Spain in the tour. This will be our team's third time to Italy and look forward to seeing the Vatican and the Coliseum, among many other historical sights.  I think it's a great way to kick off our 2019 campaign and get ready for the season.  We will get the chance to play a couple U19, second division teams. This will give us plenty of things to see, experience and work on. The boys are looking forward to a great time in Europe."
The team will spend four days in Rome, which will include morning church at Ostia and lunch with the congregation. A day will be spent exploring the city of Naples, Italy (Pompeii).
Four days will be spent in Barcelona, Spain. The Ravens will scrimmage the UD Bellvitge U-19 team and will also have the opportunity to tour Camp Nou, home of FC Barcelona.
Four more days will be spent in Madrid, Spain. The Ravens are scheduled to scrimmage the Madrid U-19 team. They will also get to visit the Real Madrid stadium as well as attend a professional match between CD Leganes and Albacete Balompie.
