Anderson University and the Department of Athletics support a recommendation from the NCAA DIII Administrative Council to postpone competition for the remainder of the Fall 2020 semester. Conducting athletics competition, whether non-conference or conference, during the fall semester would occur in opposition to NCAA medical guidance.
"I understand the disappointment our student-athletes experience when a season is postponed or shortened, however, the AU Department of Athletics, the AU Sports Medicine staff and our team physician are in full support of the NCAA guidelines because of the focus on the health and well-being of student-athletes," shared Athletics Director Marcie Taylor.
Sports with previous competition schedules prior to January of 2021 will be postponed, including basketball, swimming & diving and indoor track & field. Opportunities for competition for these sports as well as fall sports will take place during the spring semester.
Student-athletes, coaches and teams are currently engaging in NCAA permissible practice opportunities, small-group training, skill development and strength and conditioning, and will continue to do so for the remainder of the fall semester.
The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and its member institutions released the conference schedules for football and soccer earlier this week while the conference schedules for tennis, volleyball and basketball will be released later this month.
