Anderson University women’s basketball sophomore Payton Moore has been named the Raven Female Athlete of the Week.
The Ravens (11-14, 7-11) went 2-0 to close out the season and clinch their first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament berth since the 2009-10 season. Anderson halted Manchester University (8-17, 5-13) with a 55-39 HCAC victory last Wednesday in North Manchester. The Ravens then fought past Mount St. Joseph University (7-18, 6-12) with a 53-49 HCAC win on Senior Day last Saturday in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
Payton Moore recorded averages of 19.5 points and 14 rebounds for the week. The Spiceland native notched 21 points and 14 rebounds against Manchester. She then tallied 18 points and 14 rebounds against Mount St. Joseph.
Moore has turned in 13.8 points per game. She currently leads the Ravens in rebounds per game (8.0) and steals per game (1.1). Moore has converted 99-of-129 shots from the free-throw line for a .767 free-throw percentage, which ranks fourth in the conference.
